Mirena® is a hormonal IUD (intrauterine device) that provides long-term contraception for up to 5 years. It is over 99% effective and is also commonly used for the treatment of heavy menstrual bleeding and painful periods.
At Mingara Medical, the entire Mirena contraception process is bulk billed.
Bulk-billed Mirena appointments include
- Pre-consultation: Assessment of suitability, contraception advice, and planning
- Mirena insertion procedure: Performed by an experienced GP (10–15 minutes)
- 4-week follow-up: Review of symptoms and device position
Cost
All Mirena consultations, insertion, and follow-up appointments are bulk billed.
The Mirena device itself is supplied by a pharmacy with standard PBS costs.
